We have been doing just the same successfully for many years: Researching emigrant names and paths going from Westphalia (Germany) to the United States (mostly Midwest) since the 19th century.

We guess that about 300,000 Westphalians left their homeland for a better life in the "New World". Within this huge "army of emigrants" more than 50 percent departed from the region of Eastern Westphalia / Lippe. Until 2003 nearly 80,000 emigrants have been researched and listed in local and county archives.
